Connor Watson, the Sydney Roosters utility, has expressed his desire to start at lock for the upcoming 2026 season.
Currently preparing for the NSW Blues camp ahead of a crucial decider, Watson has established himself as one of the NRL's most versatile players.
Initially entering the league as a half, he has successfully transitioned to a ball-playing forward during his time with the Newcastle Knights.
Additionally, he has played in various positions, including the centres and at dummy half, where he has been a starter for the Roosters throughout the injury-plagued 2025 season.
Despite the team's struggles, Watson's role is expected to continue through the end of the year, especially after Brandon Smith's release.
However, with Reece Robson joining from the North Queensland Cowboys next year, Watson anticipates that his starting position may not be sustainable.
Instead, he is focused on securing the club's number 13 jumper for the 2026 season.
