Warriors Win in Dramatic 29-28 Comeback

NSW Cup Match Report: Hanson seals one-point win

In a thrilling NSW Cup clash, Luke Hanson nailed a field goal in the 78th minute, clinching a 29-28 victory for the NZ Warriors against Western Suburbs at Go Media Stadium on Friday night.

Following a commendable NRL debut last week, Hanson initially had a one-point attempt blocked but remained composed, finding the perfect spot to secure the winning shot.

The match was tightly contested, with the Warriors taking a 22-16 lead thanks to a powerful try from Bishop Neal in the 58th minute. However, they soon eroded that lead by conceding two tries in quick succession, allowing the Magpies to surge ahead 28-22 with just over ten minutes remaining.

With six minutes left, the Warriors struck back from a distance, as fullback Geronimo Doyle broke from dummy half, linking with Neal, who flicked the ball to winger Haizyn Mellars. Mellars sped down the sideline before passing back to Neal, who scored between the posts.

Jack Thompson's successful conversion leveled the score at 28-28 with five minutes to go, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.
