The New Zealand Warriors have initiated contract extension negotiations with halfback Luke Metcalf, according to reports from zerotackle.com.
Currently off-contract at the end of 2026, Metcalf can negotiate with other clubs starting November 1, but the Warriors hold exclusive rights to him until that date.
The 26-year-old, previously with the Sharks, has experienced injuries during his tenure with the Warriors but has risen to become the club's first-choice halfback.
Initially a five-eighth, Metcalf enhanced the performance of former halfback Shaun Johnson whenever he played.
This year, Warriors' coach Andrew Webster made the decisive choice to appoint Metcalf as the team's main halfback, a decision that has proven successful, as the Warriors are currently performing strongly in the competition, with Metcalf playing a significant role in their success.
