The competition for Cronulla Sharks' prop Thomas Hazelton has once again shifted gears, with the New Zealand Warriors now reportedly in prime position to secure his services.

According to reports from zerotackle.com, a total of seven clubs have shown interest in Hazelton in recent times.

Set to become a free agent at the end of 2025, the Sharks are eager to keep hold of the formidable forward who has quickly become a fan favorite, but financial constraints may force them to part ways with him.

Facing salary cap constraints, the Sharks are juggling multiple player contracts that need upgrades, including the recent addition of Addin Fonua-Blake for the 2025 season, as well as other high-paying deals, notably for star halfback Nicho Hynes.

Initially, it seemed like the Newcastle Knights were leading the race for Hazelton, until the St George Illawarra Dragons made a last-minute swoop with what was rumored to be a lucrative offer.

However, the Warriors have now edged ahead in this hotly contested race for the talented prop.
