The New Zealand Warriors have officially announced the acquisition of Will Warbrick, a prominent player from the Melbourne Storm, beginning next season.
This former Olympic rugby athlete has committed to a three-year deal, marking his return to his native country where he will play for the Warriors through 2029.
Since his debut in the NRL in 2023, Warbrick has proven himself as an exceptional finisher, even earning a spot on the Kiwis team in 2024.
"Bringing Will home to play for the Warriors is huge for us," remarked Andrew Webster, the head coach of the Warriors.
"He'll be a terrific asset on the wing with his height, pace, aerial ability at both ends of the field, his work rate and attitude. He also comes out of a great system at the Storm."
With a remarkable record, Warbrick has scored 43 tries in just 60 games with the Storm since joining in 2022.
He transitioned from New Zealand rugby sevens to the Storm, where he earned a silver medal as part of the All Blacks 7s at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Having played a vital role in the Storm's backline, Warbrick expressed his appreciation for the team, acknowledging the support he received during his tenure.
"I'm extremely grateful to the Club, my teammates, coaches and staff for the support they've given me and my family during my time in Melbourne," Warbrick stated.
