In a slap down of epic proportions, the New Zealand Warriors have hit back at suggestions that they deliberately concealed Ronald Volkman's shoulder injury.
It's a case of he said, she said, with blame being thrown around like a loose pass.
The St George Illawarra Dragons signed Volkman on a one-year deal to provide much-needed cover in their halves, but little did they know that they were getting damaged goods.
It's a classic case of one player's misfortune leading to another's opportunity, as the departure of Talatau Amone and Jayden Sullivan created a vacancy in the Dragons' ranks.
But alas, Volkman's dodgy shoulder put an end to that, leaving the Dragons scrambling for a Plan B.
And if that wasn't enough bad news, they were dealt another blow with Corey Allan's ACL injury.
It's a double whammy that has left the Dragons licking their wounds and searching for answers.
The Warriors, on the other hand, are putting on a united front and dismissing any claims of wrongdoing.
It's all part of the game, the push and pull of the rugby league world, where trust and transparency can sometimes be hard to find.
