The NZ Warriors have bounced back in style, conquering the scorching conditions and outplaying the Kaiviti Silktails with a well-deserved 16-4 victory in the Jersey Flegg Cup at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
Despite the oppressive 27-degree heat and 85% humidity, the Warriors showed true grit and determination on the field.
Just like a seasoned pro playing in his prime, they refused to let the weather get the best of them.
After suffering through five straight defeats, the Warriors were hungry for a win to inject some much-needed energy and optimism into their season.
Facing off against the inexperienced Fijian side in their debut season in the under-21 competition, the Warriors knew they had a chance to turn their luck around.
In a match reminiscent of their showdown six weeks ago, the Silktails put up a fierce fight, pushing the Warriors to their limits.
Just like in their previous encounter, where they came back from a 0-6 deficit to take the lead at 10-6, the Silktails showed they were no pushovers.
But true to their reputation as warriors on the field, the New Zealand side rallied back with two crucial tries, sealing their victory with a final score of 16-10.
It was a hard-fought battle, but the Warriors emerged victorious, proving once again that they are a force to be reckoned with in the Jersey Flegg Cup.
