A key playmaker for the New Zealand Warriors, Luke Hanson, has made a decision regarding his immediate playing future after contributing to their success in the 2025 NSW Cup title and State Championship.

Hansen, who hails from St Dominics College, joined the Warriors after being recruited from the Penrith Panthers at the end of 2023. During his time with the Panthers, he developed through their pathways system, participating in the Harold Matthews Cup, SG Ball Cup, and Jersey Flegg Cup.

At just 21 years old, Hansen continues to demonstrate his talent in the NSW Cup, primarily playing in the halves while taking on various roles for the Warriors.

Despite his promising start, he will be available to negotiate with other teams starting November 1, which could lead to increased interest if he opts to return to Australia.

"It was certainly a shock at first, something different moving countries but I've settled in good now and there is a lot of great people over there," he remarked about his transition to New Zealand.

He also shared his aspirations, stating, "The goal for me is staying consistent, playing good consistent footy, staying injury free and just enjoying my footy."

Hanson expressed his determination for advancement within the sport, saying, "100 percent I'm chasing (my first-grade debut) every week and it'd be amazing. It's been a dream of mine since I was a kid so to be able to debut in front of my family would definitely be special."
