The New Zealand Warriors have delivered an injury blow with the news that Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad will be sidelined for the start of the 2024 NRL season.
According to reports on zerotackle.com, Nicoll-Klokstad has suffered a hamstring injury during pre-season training that will keep him out of action for several weeks.
Initially, it was hoped that he would only miss the opening week, but the Warriors are taking a cautious approach to his recovery.
In fact, a club statement has suggested that he may not return until Round 4, when the Warriors face the Newcastle Knights in what promises to be a thrilling clash.
Coach Andrew Webster described Nicoll-Klokstad's injury as a "niggle" that also affects his back.
This setback means the Warriors will not be shifting Roger Tuivasa-Sheck to fullback as a replacement.
The team will have to rely on other players to step up and fill the void left by Nicoll-Klokstad's absence.
