The New Zealand Warriors have delivered a blow to their fans by confirming the immediate departure of playmaker Ronald Volkman.

According to zerotackle.com, the 21-year-old halfback is set to join NRL rivals, the St George Illawarra Dragons, for the 2024 season.

Volkman, who debuted in the NRL with the Warriors in 2022 after leaving the Sydney Roosters, had played five games for the club before this sudden move.

Despite having two more seasons left on his Warriors contract, Volkman is eager to return to Australia and continue his career with a new team.

One can only wonder what went wrong for the talented young player at the Warriors.

Nonetheless, the club expressed its gratitude for Volkman's contributions during his time in Auckland.

The departure of Volkman will no doubt leave a void in the Warriors' lineup, and fans will be eager to see how the team plans to replace him.

Only time will tell if the Dragons have made a wise acquisition in securing the services of this promising playmaker.
