Warriors' key forwards make strides towards finals return

Injury Report: Barnett and Tevaga making progress

LeagueNews.co | Jason Patrick

Key forwards Mitchell Barnett and Jazz Tevaga are both working hard to recover from their respective injuries and be available for the NZ Warriors' return to finals football.

Barnett, a prop-second rower, missed the last game against Manly Warringah due to a knee laceration suffered in a previous match against the Wests Tigers.

This injury has limited his movement and prevented him from participating in full team training sessions.

However, he is expected to gradually increase his training next week.

Tevaga, on the other hand, suffered a low-grade high hamstring strain during a training session.

He is currently undergoing rehabilitation and working on his running progressions before rejoining the team training.

His return is anticipated in the near future.

In more positive news, centre Ali Leiataua, who made his first-grade debut in 2023, has recovered from a hamstring injury and is back to full training.

Additionally, Te Maire Martin and Brayden Wiliame, a standoff and a centre respectively, are making their comebacks this weekend after recovering from fibula and calf injuries.

Unfortunately, there is also some devastating injury news for rookie NRL back rower Demitric Sifakula.

He suffered an ACL injury while making a tackle in the NZ Warriors' New South Wales Cup win over Western Suburbs.

This injury will likely require a significant amount of time for recovery and rehabilitation.

Overall, the Warriors are working hard to get their key forwards back on the field and ready for the upcoming finals matches.

The return of several other injured players also provides a boost to the team's depth and options.
