The New Zealand Warriors face a significant setback in their quest for a maiden NRL premiership, as both Luke Metcalf and Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad are set to miss extensive time due to injuries.
According to zerotackle.com, the pair have been instrumental in the Warriors' strong performance this season, which saw them rise to the top four.
Metcalf's season has ended prematurely, as he tore his ACL during a recent match against the Brisbane Broncos.
His recovery will take between nine to twelve months, casting doubt on his availability for Round 1 of the next season, which is less than nine months away.
This injury is particularly troubling for Metcalf, who previously endured a challenging first season with the Warriors due to injuries and suffered a similar ACL injury back in 2019.
However, his transition to the number seven jersey this year has showcased his talent, establishing him as one of the league's most consistent halfbacks.
Meanwhile, Nicoll-Klokstad has also suffered a medial ligament injury in his knee, adding to the team's woes.
The absence of both players poses a significant challenge for the Warriors as they aim to maintain their performance and secure their premiership aspirations.
