The New Zealand Warriors have received a positive injury update on star halfback Shaun Johnson.
After being spotted in a moon boot last week, fears of a potential syndesmosis injury arose, which could have sidelined Johnson for up to two months.
This would have been a significant blow to the Warriors, who are looking to build on their surprise run to the preliminary finals in 2023, in which Johnson played a pivotal role.
However, scans have revealed that Johnson has only suffered a moderate ankle sprain, much to the delight of the Auckland-based club.
This news means that Johnson should be fit for the club's season opener against the Cronulla Sharks on March 8.
Nevertheless, his availability for the pre-season challenge matches against the Wests Tigers and the Dolphins is still uncertain.
The Warriors will be hoping their key playmaker can recover in time to lead their charge in the upcoming season, as they aim to continue their recent success in the Rugby League arena.
