Warriors coach Andrew Webster stands by Shaun Johnson's gutsy decision to continue playing despite injury, as controversy swirls around Luke Keary's tackle

Keary might be in trouble after his tackle on the Warriors star.

In a game filled with drama, Warriors coach Andrew Webster is defending his star player Shaun Johnson's choice to tough it out in the face of injury during the team's 38-18 loss to the Roosters.

Johnson, who was injured in a clash with Roosters player Luke Keary in the first half, now faces uncertainty heading into Magic Round.

Keary's tackle on Johnson raised eyebrows, with fans suggesting it resembled a 'chicken wing' move.

Despite the controversy, Keary escaped being penalized, but may face review by the NRL match committee for the incident where he appeared to bend Johnson's arm unnaturally.

Johnson bravely soldiered on for most of the second half before finally succumbing to a pectoral muscle injury in the final minutes of the game, prompting him to leave the field.

Webster disclosed that he had a frank discussion with Johnson at halftime about his condition and the risks of continuing to play.

Despite his pain, Johnson insisted on fighting on for his team, showcasing his determination and commitment on the field.

However, his availability for the upcoming Magic Round clash against the Panthers is now in question.

"I can't say for sure if he'll be ready next week," Webster admitted.

"It was a tough call at halftime.

Shaun wanted to keep pushing through, saying, 'I want to stay and battle'.

I commend his fighting spirit and dedication to the game," Webster added.
