The NZ Warriors have made history by becoming the first team in 12 years to win back-to-back titles in the Harold Matthews Cup, defeating Newcastle 30-16 in the grand final at Leichhardt Oval in Sydney.
The last team to achieve consecutive titles was Parramatta in 2012-2013.
This victory follows the Warriors' groundbreaking success last year, when they claimed the Harold Matthews Cup premiership in their inaugural competition year.
Despite the significance of this achievement, Warriors coach TJ Ashford emphasized that the team did not concentrate solely on the historical aspect as they prepared for the final.
Reflecting on the achievement, Ashford stated, "It's a special club and a special group of boys." The win marks an important milestone for the Warriors, adding another chapter to the competition's legacy.
