George Williams, the captain of the Warrington Wolves, will be out of action for up to 10 weeks due to an ankle injury that requires surgery.

The half-back sustained the injury during the team's recent 28-16 loss to Hull.

This means Williams will miss the Challenge Cup semi-final against Leigh on May 11 and may have a tight timeline to recover for the final on June 7 if the team qualifies.

Warrington's head coach Sam Burgess expressed his disappointment, stating that Williams is irreplaceable but also sees it as an opportunity for someone else to step up.

Burgess commented, "It's not good.

He's going for surgery tomorrow and will be out for eight to 10 weeks." This injury comes at a crucial time for the team as they approach important matches in the upcoming weeks.
