In a fiery press conference that could rival a State of Origin stoush, Broncos coach Kevin Walters has slammed the NRL over Joseph Suaalii's suspension for his high tackle on fullback Reece Walsh, declaring it "not enough."

Suaalii, who was given his marching orders early in the Broncos' loss to Queensland, accepted the four-game ban handed down by the NRL's match review committee.

But Walters, speaking ahead of his team's clash against Cronulla, didn't hold back in expressing his disappointment, urging the NRL to do more to protect Walsh and other "great players" in the game.

"Crossing the line is a big one for me," Walters fumed.

"That's the second time that has happened and four weeks for me is not enough.

I've got to support the player.

That's twice now.

The Broncos coach, known for his passion and love for the game, made it clear that he believes tougher action needs to be taken to ensure player safety on the field.
