Isaah Yeo has publicly supported Kevin Walters as the next coach of the Australian Kangaroos, describing him as "a man people want to play for." Reports indicate that Walters is set to be named Mal Meninga's successor this week, as the ARL Commission (ARLC) finalizes the announcement ahead of this year's Ashes series.
Meninga stepped down from his role after accepting a position with the Perth Bears, leading the ARLC to exclude club coaches from the national coaching position.
Walters' return to coaching comes after his dismissal from the Brisbane Broncos at the end of 2024, where he previously led Queensland to two State of Origin victories between 2016 and 2019.
Yeo, who has not previously collaborated with Walters, has only interacted with him through post-match interviews or opposing him during games, including the recent grand final where Yeo's Panthers defeated the Broncos.
However, after speaking with several players about Walters, Yeo expressed his enthusiasm for his potential leadership of the Kangaroos ahead of the upcoming Ashes.
