Kevin Walters is keeping a tight grip on the NRL finals dream for the Brisbane Broncos, despite a drubbing at the paws of the Bulldogs.

The Broncos are facing an uphill battle to secure a finals spot after being thrashed 41-16 by the Bulldogs at Suncorp Stadium.

With just five games left in the regular season, the Broncos need to show some true grit against tough opponents like the Titans, Cowboys, Eels, Dolphins, and Storm.

A much-needed bye in Round 24 will give them a breather before the final push.

Walters, a seasoned campaigner, knows his team needs to dig deep and rediscover their winning ways after a lackluster showing against the Bulldogs.

"We've got to get back to playing the footy," Walters said, rallying his troops for the challenges ahead.

Despite the setbacks, Walters remains optimistic and is determined to inject some energy into his squad for the crucial matches ahead.

The road to the finals won't be easy, but with Walters at the helm, the Broncos are ready to fight tooth and nail for a shot at glory.
