Brisbane is facing a setback with an ACL injury to five-eighth Billy Walters just before the preliminary final.
The Broncos informed AAP that the injury is not a complete rupture and their initial plan is to rehabilitate the knee without resorting to surgery.
"Walters will work with the club's medical team to assess the next steps in his recovery," the Broncos said in a statement.
While the chances of the 31-year-old playing in a fortnight seem low, it's worth noting that former Broncos prop Matt Lodge managed to play with a partially torn ACL while at the club.
On a positive note for the Broncos, the returning injured players have been training vigorously at Brisbane HQ, giving coach Michael Maguire a welcome selection dilemma.
Captain Adam Reynolds, five-eighth Ezra Mam, and outside back Selwyn Cobbo, often referred to as "The Three Hamstring Amigos," all displayed renewed energy during a rigorous session on Monday morning, completed by 8 am.
All three had sustained injuries in the round-23 defeat against Melbourne.
