Queensland rugby league legend Wally Lewis has shared a touching story about his final conversations with Carl Webb, who recently passed away from Motor Neurone Disease.

Lewis revealed that Webb, even in the face of such adversity, showed his fighting spirit and determination to not give up.

In one conversation, Webb cheekily sledged the New South Wales team, saying that if he passed away too soon, he would miss seeing Queensland beat NSW.

This comment perfectly exemplified Webb's unwavering loyalty to his home state.

Webb, who scored a memorable try on his Maroons debut in 2001, will always be remembered as a true Queenslander.

His infamous photo, with a 'Q' shaved into the side of his head, where he grabs Luke Bailey by the throat, remains an iconic image in State of Origin history.
