'Never say never': Wallabies gun opens up on NRL whispers
NSW Waratahs and rising Wallabies talent Tane Edmed has broken his silence on the swirling rumors linking him to a potential code switch to the NRL, with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season.
Known for his electrifying performances as a playmaker in the Super Rugby arena for the Waratahs, Edmed made his Wallabies debut against Ireland last year, following in the footsteps of his tough-as-nails father, former Balmain Tigers enforcer Steve Edmed, who racked up an impressive 159 appearances for the club.
With whispers of a move to the NRL persisting for some time now, Edmed's reputation as one of the brightest young fly-halves in union has piqued the interest of league scouts.
The prospect of yet another Wallabies star making the leap across codes has been a hot topic ever since he departed the Wests Tigers over five years ago.
In a trend that sees more union stars trying their hand at league, the likes of Carter Gordon (eight Tests), Mark Nawaqanitawase (11 Tests), Moses Leo (North Harbour and Rugby 7s Gold medallist), and Tyrone Thompson (Chiefs and All Blacks XV) are all set to embark on their debut NRL seasons in 2025.
As Edmed mulls over his future in a potential switch to the NRL, one thing is for certain - in the unpredictable world of sports, anything can happen.
