The Robins required a victory to secure their position at the top of the standings but faced a staggering deficit of 26-0 at halftime. Wakefield, aiming for the final play-off spot, delivered an impressive performance.

They achieved four unanswered tries, scored by Jake Trueman, Mason Lino, Max Jowitt, and Cameron Scott, with Lino not only converting all four tries but also adding a penalty, which allowed Wakefield to dominate.

While Arthur Mourgue and Oliver Gildart responded with tries in the second half, the anticipated comeback from Hull KR failed to materialize.

To secure the trophy, they must now defeat Warrington or at least avoid a significant loss on Thursday, as Wigan trails by two points with a points difference that is 41 points less.
