The York Valkyrie rugby league team has come close to glory in recent seasons but has fallen short in the big games.

They narrowly missed out on the Betfred Women's Challenge Cup final and the Betfred Women's Super League Grand Final in 2021.

Earlier this year, they suffered a heartbreaking one-point defeat to St Helens, denying them a place in the Women's Challenge Cup final at Wembley.

However, they now have another chance to claim a major title in the Women's Super League showdown against Leeds Rhinos.

The Valkyrie have already secured the League Leaders' Shield and will have the advantage of playing at home in front of a large crowd at the LNER Community Stadium.

Captain Sinead Peach emphasized the importance of winning the maiden BWSL title, stating that it means everything to the team.

She acknowledged the disappointment of losing in the Challenge Cup semi-final but expressed confidence in the team's ability to bounce back and give their all to secure victory in the Grand Final.
