'Nice message': NFL star seeks jersey swap ahead of Vegas clash
Val Holmes is preparing to invite NFL player Frankie Luvu to the Dragons' season opener in Las Vegas. This invitation follows Luvu's outreach about a jersey swap.
Holmes, who trained alongside Luvu at the New York Jets during the 2019 NFL season, mentioned that Luvu, born in American Samoa, is a fan of the State of Origin. He expressed interest in obtaining Holmes' No.4 Queensland jersey from this year's series.
In exchange, Luvu has sent Holmes his No.4 Commanders jersey. The former Kangaroos player, who will represent the Cook Islands in next year's World Cup, intends to invite Luvu to St George Illawarra's match against the Bulldogs on February 28 at Allegiant Stadium.
After a season-ending surgery to fix a torn rotator cuff following Round 19, Holmes joined Karmichael Hunt's coaching staff. With their guidance, the Cook Islands secured qualification for RLWC26 by defeating South Africa on November 9.
