The Gold Coast Titans have been encouraged to implement major roster adjustments following yet another season devoid of finals contention.
Former NRL luminaries Chad Townsend and Ryan Hoffman have shared their distinct perspectives on rejuvenating the club's fortunes.
Currently, the Titans occupy the 15th spot on the NRL ladder, marking an absence from the finals for five consecutive years.
The last time Gold Coast participated in the finals was in 2021, where they faced a heartbreaking one-point defeat against the Sydney Roosters in the opening round.
While Josh Hannay's appointment after Des Hasler's exit has offered some encouraging signs, Townsend insists that a thorough roster overhaul is crucial for the team to cultivate a winning identity.
"Everyone wants the Gold Coast Titans to do well," remarked Hoffman.
"It's almost a team you feel sorry for. There was a lot of high hopes with the change of coach this year, and I thought at the start he was doing a really good job, but as always with the Gold Coast Titans, just consistency has not been their friend."
"There's always new talent coming through, but their consistency has been lacking throughout this year."
Townsend argues that the inconsistency reflects a deeper issue within the club, suggesting that both Hannay and football manager Scott Sattler are working to forge a new culture for the Titans.
"I've said for a long time I think the Titans have lacked a bit of DNA and I think that's the job that Josh Hannay and Scott Sattler have, or they're trying to change this year," he noted.
