The unique training regime fuelling Martin's Kiwis return
Surfing and pig hunting might not be the typical preparation for an international football match, but they form the basis of Te Maire Martin's anticipated return to the Kiwis. This unique training approach comes after a call from Kiwis coach Stacey Jones during an off-season break, seeking assistance due to injuries within the New Zealand team.
Acting swiftly, Martin is now gearing up for his first Test match since 2018, set for Sunday against Tonga at Eden Park. His initial Test debut was in 2016, but his career faced a serious setback in 2019 when he was diagnosed with a brain bleed.
Reflecting on the seven-year hiatus, Martin understands that he has matured both personally and professionally. He feels well-prepared to seize this chance to represent his country once again.
