Turuva Backs Bati Brotherhood to Stun the Big Guns

Facing a World Cup pool that includes Australia and New Zealand may seem intimidating to many, but for the Bati's dynamic player Sunia Turuva, it's just another challenge.

As the current World Cup champions, the Kangaroos and the recently crowned Pacific Cup titleholders, the Kiwis, are formidable opponents. However, Turuva insists that his team isn't simply there to fill the ranks.

Historically, the Bati have exceeded expectations in the last two World Cups, reaching the semi-finals in 2017 and the quarter-finals in 2022. In the latter tournament, they had a significant lead over the Kiwis, 18-6, early in the second half before narrowly losing by six points.

With key players like Viliame Kikau, Tui Kamikamica, Jahream Bula, Api Koroisau, and Turuva himself leading the charge, the Bati are optimistic about starting RLWC26 with a victory against the Cook Islands in Newcastle on October 18. Following this match, they will take on the Kangaroos in Brisbane and the Kiwis on the Gold Coast.
