Tupou Considers Future Amid Career Milestone

Daniel Tupou's Career Decision Timeline

Sydney Roosters winger Daniel Tupou has indicated he will make a decision regarding his career within the next few weeks as he contemplates retirement.

At 35 years old, Tupou has been considering his future in recent seasons. He is currently off-contract at the end of 2026, but has yet to determine whether he will continue playing.

The experienced Rooster is nearing the all-time games record for the club and is set to finish his tenure as the third-highest try-scorer, trailing only Alex Johnston and Ken Irvine.

Currently sitting at 185 tries, he needs just six more to surpass Billy Slater, who retired with 190 tries.

As the Roosters prepare for their match against the Cronulla Sharks this Saturday in Perth, Tupou has accumulated 293 games. If he remains fit, he will join the NRL's prestigious 300-game club this year.

Still regarded as one of the most dependable wingers in the league, Tupou shared with News Corp that he has not yet made a decision regarding his career. He emphasized his commitment to staying with the Roosters, which will ensure he ends his career as a one-club player after debuting for the tri-colours in 2012.

"To be honest, sometime this week coming or the next couple of weeks," the winger said.

"It hasn't been sorted out yet. I don't know what my options are.

"I have to catch up with my manager and go from there."
