In a significant development for the Dragons, coach Shane Flanagan has announced that former sevens star Nathan Lawson will make his NRL debut this Friday.
Lawson steps in due to the absence of try-scoring winger Christian Tuipulotu, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since a round 6 victory over the Titans.
Although Tuipulotu had an impressive season with seven tries in five matches, the team opted for caution, preventing him from playing against the Knights.
Flanagan expressed optimism about Tuipulotu's recovery, stating, "CT is very close.
We could have pushed him if it was a semi-final or something like that." He explained that despite Tuipulotu being prepared for the match all week, the decision was made to keep him out: "the staff thought it would be better off if he had a really good training week and then get him ready for next week." The club anticipates that Tuipulotu will return in the following week against the Dolphins.
