Trbojevic Sidelined but Optimistic After Injury

Manly forward Jake Trbojevic is determined to overcome yet another injury challenge after fracturing his cheekbone during Friday's match against the St George Illawarra Dragons, expressing optimism about returning to play this week against the Cowboys.

The injury occurred during a tackle, resulting in immediate swelling that left Trbojevic temporarily unable to see.

However, the co-captain of the Manly Sea Eagles quickly sought to alleviate worries, especially regarding concussion concerns.

"It didn't hurt, I wasn't concussed, which was the main thing, but it closed up so quickly that I could no longer see," Trbojevic stated on Sunday to the Sydney Morning Herald.

"I did it making a tackle. It's slowly opening today. I still look absolutely glamorous."

"But I'll be all good for Thursday. I'm honestly fine. If I could open my eyes, I would have kept playing the other night."

The fact that Trbojevic did not undergo a head injury assessment (HIA) will be a relief due to his history of head injuries which has raised ongoing concerns about his long-term health.

While this latest injury is more facial than neurological, it inevitably adds to the ongoing discourse about his fitness and durability.

Off the field, Trbojevic also discussed rumors regarding his future, specifically the reports surrounding a round 10 deadline linked to a contract option for 2027.
