Enari Tuala, Jethro Rinakama, and Blake Wilson are the top contenders to step in for the injured Bulldogs winger Jacob Kiraz next week. These three outside backs will vie for a chance to secure a starting position in the NSW Cup this Saturday night.
The Bulldogs' recent 28-4 win over the Panthers was marred by a suspected syndesmosis injury to Kiraz, who has been instrumental in the team's success this season, helping them reach the top four for the first time since 2012.
Kiraz has consistently provided significant yardage and has been a key attacking force with his offloads during tough situations.
While scans are expected to reveal the extent of his injury, the initial signs are concerning. He landed awkwardly while contesting a short kick-off and had to be assisted off the field at Accor Stadium in noticeable pain.
His absence paves the way for one of the three candidates to take his place, though captain Stephen Crichton is anticipated to be available for the finals, despite experiencing discomfort from a "tight hip" on Thursday.
"He's a bit swollen in there, so it doesn't look great," said Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo.
"Hopefully, it's just a rolled ankle, but he'll get a scan (on Friday)."
