In a true display of camaraderie and team spirit, the St George Illawarra Dragons were recently treated to a sensational Tongan feast at WIN Stadium.
Rising star Finau Latu and his supportive family pulled out all the stops to ensure the players and staff were well-fed and culturally enriched.
This event marked the kickoff of a series of cultural celebrations that have been put together by the club, under the guidance of seasoned prop Ben Murdoch-Masila.
The players were not only nourished by the delicious food but also by the sense of community and unity that was fostered at the feast.
Finau was joined by his mother Lupe, and sisters Alofi and Melehifo, as they whipped up traditional Tongan delicacies such as 'otai - a refreshing fruit drink, lu sipi, lo'i hoosi, crab salad, and taro.
The aroma of the dishes wafted through the stadium, igniting memories of home for some and kindling curiosity in others.
It's moments like these that remind us of the deep bond that exists within the Rugby League community, transcending boundaries and bringing people together.
The Dragons are not just a team, they are a family, united by their love for the game and their respect for each other's cultures.
As they savored every bite of the Tongan feast, the players were reminded that there is more to life than just winning games - it's about celebrating diversity, embracing traditions, and building lasting relationships.
And with each mouthful, they were nourished not just in body, but in spirit as well.
