Bulldogs rookie Jack Todd recently shared his emotional journey leading up to his NRL debut with bulldogs.com.au.
After suffering from injuries that limited him to 11 games in the NSW Cup and seemingly pushed him down the pecking order, Todd finally made his debut in the Bulldogs' win over the Sharks.
Todd's struggles in the past year made his debut even more meaningful, and his family's presence at the game added to the emotional experience.
Despite living in Sydney since 2019, Todd's country roots were evident as he celebrated in an Akubra after the match.
Todd expressed his gratitude for the support he received, saying, "I just wanted to make my family proud, to see the joy on their faces was just something else." His journey to the NRL debut was described by Todd as a "rollercoaster" and the experience of finally playing in the top tier of rugby league was described as "sweeter" after facing various challenges.
Todd's determination and perseverance through adversity ultimately paid off, as he realized his dream of playing in the NRL.
