In a fiery post-match press conference, Cowboys coach Todd Payten didn't hold back in criticizing his team's lackluster performance in the Queensland derby.

Describing their display as "disappointing," Payten took aim at his players for their 38-12 loss and highlighted their 10 errors in fielding Adam Reynolds' kicks.

At halftime, the game was finely poised with North Queensland trailing 20-12, but a combination of poor completions and numerous errors ultimately cost them the match.

With a meager 56 per cent completion rate and 17 total errors, the Cowboys struggled to gain any momentum against their opponents who capitalized on multiple opportunities.

Using a mix of sporting analogies and Aussie slang, Payten didn't mince his words when expressing his disappointment towards his team.

"Come down to Brisbane, it's the biggest club game of the year and we just gave the opposition too many shots inside the own half," Payten lamented.

Overall, the Cowboys' lack of precision and execution proved to be their downfall in the Queensland derby, leaving Payten frustrated and eager for his team to bounce back stronger in their next outing.
