Gold Coast Titans winger Tony Francis has secured a new contract, stepping off the open market after playing just nine matches in the past two seasons.
According to News Corp, Francis has agreed to a two-year extension that will keep him at the Titans until the conclusion of the 2027 season. With this deal, the Titans now have only four players without contracts for the upcoming season: Jacob Alick-Wiencke, Ryan Foran, Harley Smith-Shields, and Ben Liyou.
Twenty-three-year-old Francis, who is the older brother of Brisbane Broncos prospect Tupou Francis, has participated in seven matches this season. He faced a setback in 2024 due to an AC-joint shoulder injury that sidelined him for several months.
In addition to his first-grade appearances, Francis played six matches in the QLD Cup over the last eight months, achieving 12 tackle busts, one line-break, one try assist, and averaging 118 metres per match across all his games.
Francis relocated to Queensland in 2019 to attend Marsden State High School, having previously been part of the Manly Sea Eagles pathways system. Notably, he won an Under-17s Harold Matthews Cup Grand Final while playing in the halves and also spent two years with the Brisbane Broncos.
