The Gold Coast Titans have parted ways with coach Des Hasler, appointing Josh Hannay to take the helm in 2026. Hannay has set his sights on achieving NRL success for the Titans, aiming to become the first to do so in the club's history.
At 64, Hasler departs the club with a year remaining on his contract. His future in coaching within the NRL remains uncertain following this season.
Hannay, who is highly regarded in the coaching realm, will transition from his role as an assistant to Cronulla coach Craig Fitzgibbon. He has secured a three-year contract, marking his debut as a full-time NRL coach.
The 45-year-old boasts a solid track record, including four years as an assistant to Billy Slater with the Queensland State of Origin team. Additionally, he guided the Sharks close to the NRL finals as an interim coach in 2021 and served as interim coach for North Queensland in 2020 prior to Todd Payten's appointment.
"He's a genuine player development coach," Titans chief executive Steve Mitchell remarked about Hannay. "He has a genuine desire to come here to the coast and one of his primary drivers is to actually be the first to deliver success to the Gold Coast."
