Titans' Kelly to Retire After 2026 Season

The Gold Coast Titans have made a significant decision regarding the future of Indigenous All Stars representative, Brian Kelly, as they plan ahead.

Currently under contract for another year, Kelly has been part of the Titans since 2019, participating in 140 matches and scoring 47 tries following a prior two-year tenure with the Manly Sea Eagles.

Despite his background-being the cousin of past NRL players Albert Kelly and James Roberts-this season has been tough for Kelly, who has recorded only three tries and nine try assists over his 18 appearances.

As reported by The Courier-Mail, the Titans have officially informed Kelly that his contract will not be extended beyond the 2026 NRL season.

This announcement follows similar news for two-time Queensland representative outside back, Phillip Sami, who has also been told that he will not be receiving a new contract from the club.

Sami's situation comes after he expressed interest in joining the Perth Bears, who are set to enter the league in 2027 and are allowed to begin negotiations with players starting this November.

"Any player off contract at the end of 2026 is going to be put in the papers linked with the Perth Bears being interested," Bears coach Mal Meninga shared with SEN 1170.
