Former Gold Coast Titans hooker Sean Mullany, who was one of eight players released by the team at the end of the season, has officially signed with a new team for the 2026 season.
Mullany initially joined the Titans on a train-and-trial contract before earning a full-time development contract. During his tenure, he participated in three matches, making his debut in Round 5 against the Dolphins.
In those appearances, the New Zealand-born hooker notched 230 and 81 tackles, achieving an impressive efficiency rate of 95.3%. He also started in a match against the Grand Finalists, the Brisbane Broncos, in Round 14.
Despite these contributions, the Titans are entering a new chapter under head coach Josh Hannay, leading to the 26-year-old's lack of a contract extension for the upcoming season.
As a free agent, Mullany has now confirmed his return to the Mackay Cutters in the Queensland Cup for the 2026 season on a one-year deal. He previously won the club's Player of the Year award in 2022 and served as captain in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
In addition, the Cutters have upgraded young local player Rory Woodall from a developmental contract to a full-time agreement for the 2026 season.
