Titans' Cooper Bai Considers Staying Amid Storm Move

Gold Coast Titans youngster Cooper Bai is reportedly considering reversing his planned move to the Melbourne Storm.

The promising lock forward made his NRL debut in Round 27 of the 2025 season against the Wests Tigers and is expected to see more game time this year as coach Josh Hannay aims to rebuild the Titans.

His playing time outlook shifted recently with the news that prop Jaimin Jolliffe has sustained a season-ending ACL injury.

According to a report from Code Sports, Bai is on the verge of signing with the Melbourne Storm for the 2027 season and beyond, but he is now re-evaluating this decision.

Currently, Melbourne has already signed Dolphins second-rower Oryn Keeley for 2027, while Jack Hetherington and Davvy Moale are set to join the club for 2026. Moale, however, will depart at the end of 2026 to join the Manly Sea Eagles.

With two back-to-back grand final losses, the Storm is focused on rebuilding their forward pack. The club will also be without Nelson Asofa-Solomona in 2026, and the future of Tui Kamikamica and Shawn Blore remains uncertain.

Bai would be a valuable addition for the Storm as they look to secure a robust future, but the report indicates that coach Hannay and head of football Scott Sattler have conducted urgent meetings with Bai to persuade him to stay with the Titans.
