Tino Fa'asuamaleaui is on the verge of making history by winning his third consecutive Paul Broughton Medal, an achievement that no other Titans player has ever accomplished.

The news comes from the official website of the Gold Coast Titans, titans.com.au.

Last year, Fa'asuamaleaui won back-to-back honours, following in the footsteps of Luke Bailey, who achieved the same feat in 2010-11.

As the Gold Coast skipper, Fa'asuamaleaui is once again the fan favorite to claim this prestigious award, although there are other players who have also put themselves in contention this season.

The new year saw the resurgence of David Fifita and Moeaki Fotuaika, both of whom were recalled into the Queensland Maroons team and had strong seasons.

Another standout performer was Chris Randall, who showcased his versatility by playing in almost every game in his first season at the club.

However, Fa'asuamaleaui's chances of winning the award may be hindered by the number of games he missed this season, three due to a shoulder charge and another three because of State of Origin duty.

Nonetheless, when Fifita is at his best, he is virtually unstoppable, and he had several outstanding performances this season.

The 23-year-old back-rower played a crucial role on the Gold Coast's lethal left edge after signing a contract extension at the start of the season.
