In a significant setback for competing clubs in the market, Gold Coast Titans captain Tino Fa'asuamaleaui has announced his decision to stay with the team until at least the end of 2030.

Fa'asuamaleaui had previously re-signed on a long-term deal that included player options starting in 2027, which would have allowed him to explore his value on the open market.

However, following the departure of coach Des Hasler, Fa'asuamaleaui took some time to reassess his position at the Titans. This reflection ultimately led him to sign an extension that keeps him at the club for an additional five years, solidifying his role as captain and representing Queensland Maroons.

Fa'asuamaleaui has expressed a strong desire to win and believes in the Titans' potential for future success, indicating his wish to contribute to the team's growth on the Gold Coast.

"The Titans mean a lot to me and my family, and my goal has never changed since coming to the club... I want to remain loyal and be part of the team that delivers premiership success to the Gold Coast," Fa'asuamaleaui stated.

"Leading this club is a huge honour and I'm excited about what lies ahead as we continue the pursuit of NRL premiership success."

The star forward, reportedly earning around $1.2 million per year, will continue to captain the Gold Coast amid interest from clubs like the Perth Bears, Canterbury Bulldogs, and St George Illawarra Dragons.

His decision to commit before the season began surprised many, as his previous comments indicated he was in no hurry to finalize a choice.

This move removes any distraction from the Titans as the season commences, especially as they have successfully retained key players Beau Fermor and Jayden Campbell.
