Gold Coast Titans captain Tino Fa'asuamaleaui has announced that he will continue to represent Australia in 2025.
The forward, who is eligible to play for both Australia and Samoa, had been speculated to follow fellow Kangaroos player Payne Haas in switching to the Samoan team.
At the end of this year, Kevin Walters' Kangaroos will travel to England for the first Ashes series in over 20 years, while the Samoan team will compete against Tonga and New Zealand in the Pacific Championships.
These teams, along with five others, will participate in the 2026 Rugby League World Cup, set to take place in Australia and Papua New Guinea.
Fa'asuamaleaui is currently navigating the free agency landscape before deciding on a player option with the Gold Coast Titans for 2027. He expressed his feelings about his international commitment to AAP, noting that he has "unfinished business."
This decision comes after he missed last year's Pacific Championships due to injury. His last appearance in the green and gold was during the 2023 tournament final, where the Kangaroos suffered a surprising 30-0 defeat against the Kiwis.
"The reason I'm sticking with Australia is I feel like I have unfinished business," Fa'asuamaleaui stated.
