With a career spanning almost two decades in the realm of professional sports, Watsford has a solid track record of driving growth, engaging fans, and delivering top-notch sporting experiences.
Hailing from his recent role as Chief Operating Officer at Supercars, Watsford played a pivotal role in expanding the sport's reach and spearheading innovative initiatives such as SuperGEMS, a program aimed at empowering young women in the STEM field within motorsport.
Prior to his time at Supercars, Watsford excelled as the CEO of the Northern Territory Major Events Company, where he made significant contributions to the sports landscape by hosting internationally acclaimed events that not only boosted tourism but also heightened fan engagement across various sporting codes.
Watsford's rugby league roots run deep, having previously served as the General Manager of Major Events & Engagement at the NRL, overseeing marquee events such as the State of Origin and the NRL Grand Final.
His well-rounded background in sports administration, including stints with Rugby Australia and the Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust, has equipped him with the skills needed to thrive in the competitive world of sports management.
In accepting the role, Watsford expressed his enthusiasm in joining the Dragons family and bringing his wealth of experience to the club, aiming to lead them to victory on and off the field.
