Tigers' Roar Turns to Regret: Leadership Misfire

LeagueNews.co | Cooper McEnroe

Former Wests Tigers chairman Lee Hagipantelis has openly criticized the club's dysfunction and expressed regret over his tenure.

Speaking out for the first time since stepping down in 2023, Hagipantelis described his time in the role as fraught with "dysfunction, powerlessness, and internal division." He candidly stated, "Not only do I not miss being chairman I regret taking on the role.

It was a mistake.

There is no upside to the role."

His remarks signal a troubling assessment of the club's internal dynamics during his presidency from 2019 to 2023.

Hagipantelis highlighted that the chairman position was mostly symbolic, with actual power concentrated in the hands of the owners, diminishing any potential for meaningful change.

This reflects ongoing challenges within the organization, indicating that the issues impacting the Wests Tigers extend beyond individual leadership roles and are deeply rooted in the club's structure.
