Mia Tonga, a rising star from the Wests Tigers, is making waves in women's rugby league despite facing challenges due to an ACL injury.
The Tigers have shown promise with talented female players excelling in competitions like the Lisa Fiaola Cup and Tarsha Gale Cup.
Tonga, who joined the Tigers from the Central Coast Roosters, contributed significantly as a halfback and brought her skills to the Under-16s New South Wales CHS team in 2024.
Unfortunately, her aspirations to play in the 2024 Lisa Fiaola Cup Grand Final were cut short by her injury.
In a recent interview with Zero Tackle, Tonga discussed the hardships of her recovery and the motivating role of her family in her journey.
"It was pretty hard, but my mindset was ready to get back out there.
It was a long 12 months, but getting back out there with the girls was really good," she shared.
With her determination and talent, Tonga is focused on realizing her dream of competing in the NRLW.
The Wests Tigers, having reached the finals recently, are undoubtedly nurturing future stars like her who aim to shine on larger stages.
