'Footy's the life': Tigers No.1 couple embrace Indigenous Round

Jahream and Aaliyah Bula have made history as the first married couple to celebrate Indigenous Round at the same club, both aspiring to consistently wear the No.1 jersey for the Wests Tigers.

Jahream is set to play his 54th NRL match as fullback for Wests Tigers in the upcoming Gadhu Gathering game against Manly at Allianz Stadium. He is also supporting Aaliyah in her preparation to play the same position for the club's NRLW team.

The couple, who transitioned from basketball to rugby league, initially connected through their work with Redfern Youth Connect, a non-profit drop-in center for youth. Jahream served as a youth worker before rising to NRL prominence, while Aaliyah comes from a family deeply involved in the community; her parents, Solomon and Margaret Haumono, founded the center over a decade ago and continue to manage it.
