Benny Elias, a beloved figure in the Balmain rugby league community, has unleashed a scathing attack on his club, the Wests Tigers.

This comes after the news that chairman Lee Hagipantelis has been re-elected for another three years.

Elias, who was participating in an external review of the club's disappointing NRL season, expressed his anger that the re-election occurred before the review could be completed.

Hagipantelis, who is also the principal of the club's major sponsor Brydens Lawyers, has overseen the Tigers' consecutive wooden spoon finishes in the last two seasons.

Elias questioned the decision to reward someone with such a track record.

He criticized Hagipantelis for his excessive spending without any positive impact on the off-field operations of the club.
