"Tigers and Bulldogs: NSW Squad's Unexpected Prowl"

Confusion erupts after Tigers and Bulldogs players added to NSW squad for State of Origin 1

Confusion has arisen among NRL fans following the announcement that Adam Doueihi and Jacob Preston have been added to the NSW State of Origin squad for Game 1.

The initial 20-player squad was unveiled by coach Laurie Daley on Sunday night, yet the two players were spotted arriving at the team hotel in Leura, about 100km west of Sydney, on Tuesday evening.

Jacob Preston, a Bulldogs back-rower, had been a strong contender for selection after a stellar start to his season.

However, his chances were dashed due to a four-match suspension he received for a crusher tackle in Round 9.

With the Bulldogs on a bye in Round 13, Preston will not return in time for the Game 2 announcement, leaving his hopes for an Origin debut in limbo until Game 3.

Daley's decision to include him in camp appears to be an effort to let Preston experience the Origin environment, reminiscent of last year when Joseph Sua'ali'i was similarly brought into camp despite suspension.

Conversely, the addition of Doueihi has left fans puzzled.

He has not made a significant impact in 2025 while playing in the centres for the Wests Tigers, and many question why he was chosen for the squad.

His inclusion may stem from his versatility, allowing him to fill various positions during opposed training sessions.

Given that several NRL teams have a bye this weekend, some players may be unavailable to join the Blues camp.

As fans seek clarity, the situation highlights the complex dynamics of State of Origin selection and the unexpected decisions that can spark confusion among supporters.
