The Wests Tigers experienced a stronger performance in the 2025 season but found themselves lacking depth in their forward lineup beyond Terrell May. Recognizing the need for additional strength in the middle for the upcoming 2026 season, the Tigers have acted decisively.

The club has officially announced the signing of veteran prop Bunty Afoa for the 2026 NRL season, bolstering their forward pack with size, leadership, and reliability.

Afoa, who debuted with the New Zealand Warriors in 2016, has amassed 145 first-grade appearances and will join the Tigers on a one-year contract.

Renowned for his powerful carries and relentless defensive contributions, Afoa is expected to enhance the performance of the Tigers' young front row.

"I'm excited about the chance to come into a new environment and take the opportunity the Tigers have given me," Afoa stated in a club announcement.

"In seeing what's been happening at the club and speaking with Benji, it's an exciting time to be involved and I'm looking forward to playing my part next season.

"It'll be great to get around the group and get to know the boys for pre-season. I can't wait to get started."
